The Driftwood Players Present “Dearly Departed”
Sunday, May 18, 2008

We will board the Grays Harbor Transit at 12:00 noon at the Ocean Shores Community Club and head to Aberdeen’s Driftwood Playhouse for a Sunday afternoon performance of “Dearly Departed”.

The fun begins when the head of the family, Bud Turpin, suddenly keels over and dies at the kitchen table. Bud’s death brings the family together, at least physically, and the rest of the show is spent watching all the fun getting Bud into the grave.

The sanest character is the none-too-grieving widow, Raynelle. While everyone else wants to find some virtue in the deceased, Raynelle recognizes him as mean and surly, which she wants on his tombstone.

“Dearly Departed” makes fun of the behaviors, mannerisms and way of speaking of these folks. It plays with stereotypes, but the characters are so well established in the play that you may be convinced you’ve run across one or two of them in your past.

Cabela’s (Lacey, WA)
Thursday, June 12, 2008

Father’s Day is just around the corner, so we have planned a trip to Cabela’s, the giant of outdoor recreation merchandise. We will board our motor coach at 9:00 AM at the Ocean Shores Community Club and head to Lacey WA, for the new hit store, Cabela’s.

The centerpiece of the store’s open showroom is a towering mountain replica with running waterfalls and streams, a trout pond and trophy animals. Cabela’s also has a freshwater aquarium, a museum and their own deli style restaurant, which serves wild game as well as tamer fare.

Cabela’s offers quality outdoor clothing and gear for hunting, camping and fishing. This superstore even has a bargain cave. We have four hours to do all of our shopping, see specialty displays and enjoy a relaxing lunch (on your own). We will have plenty of time to select that perfect gift or personal purchase. Our group will return to Ocean Shores by 6:00 PM.
